Course Contents
The course is designed to make students familiar with the different aspects involved in the design of an offshore wind farm. The topics addressed include environmental load and soil modelling, turbine technology, wind farm economics, environmental impact, installation and maintenance logistics, electrical infrastructure, layout design, cable installation, and support structure design.
Study Goals
Students successfully completing the course will be able to:
a) give an overview of the different components, equipment and parties involved in the design of an offshore wind farm,
b) elaborate on the interactions between the different components, and
c) make a preliminary design of a support structure for an offshore wind turbine.
Education Method
Lectures and practical sessions.
Assessment
Group project (report and presentation) and exam.
