Expected prior knowledge
SPM9550 or demonstrated basic knowledge of CAS and ABM
Course Contents
Building on Complex Adaptive Systems theory and basic Agent Based Modeling knowledge presented in SPM9550, the Advanced course will focus on advanced Agent Based Modeling techniques and additional advanced theory. The student is expected to build a series of (small) models in groups.
Study Goals
The main goal of the course is to learn how to set up and analyze a Agent Based Model of a socio-technical or some other complex system.
Education Method
The course will consist of a small number of lectures and regular computer workshops. A group of students is expected to develop several Agent Based Models of increasing complexity in NetLogo. The final, most complex model will be used for grading
Computer Use
The course will extensively use computers for Agent Based Model development.
Assessment
The grade is determined 1/3 by the group grade for the final model created and 2/3 through an individual exam about the theory and the group model.
Permitted Materials during Tests
